Event Calendar

SecondWind RO's automated event schedule: what runs daily and at the weekend, what each one pays out, and why no GM has to be awake for any of it.

Event Calendar

A scheduler keeps Midgard busy on its own. No GM has to be awake and no announcement has to be typed, the events run themselves.

All times below are server time. Check yours with @servertime if you are not sure how it lines up with your clock.

The rhythm#

Every event runs three times a day, and no two ever overlap. The slots are spaced so that every time zone catches every event at a reasonable hour at least once.

When Event Min. players Where
00:00, 08:00, 16:00 Poring Invasion none all over Prontera
01:00, 09:00, 17:00 Find the Mushroom 1 announced when it starts
02:00, 10:00, 18:00 Reverse Race 2
04:00, 12:00, 20:00 Disguise 1
06:00, 14:00, 22:00 Zombie Survival 2
Saturday and Sunday, 19:00 Cluckers 1

Every NPC will tell you its own times if you ask it, so you never have to keep this table open.

The schedule follows when people play. The busy hours carry the events that need a group. Zombie Survival wants two people before it starts, and a race alone is no race. The quiet hours get the ones you can play solo, so nobody logs in at three in the morning to an empty square.

Something is usually around the corner, but events top up your income on the side. Most of your Poring Coins still come from monster kills.

What each event pays#

Every event has a guaranteed reward. Most also carry a small, independent chance at one of the event box family on top. The odds on those are tiny on purpose, this is a bonus, not the reason to play.

Each line rolls independently, so a single win can land more than one box.

Lucky rolls#

Winning the Reverse Race or Zombie Survival rolls two extra chances on top of your coins. Most wins pay neither, and that keeps both prizes worth something.

Supply pack roll#

A 5 percent chance per win. Four stacks, every time. The element and the stat are rolled fresh, so no two packs are alike.

What you get What it does
10x LV10 Blessing Scroll Blessing at level 10 for 4 minutes: +10 STR, INT and DEX, plus immunity to Curse and Stone Curse. No Priest required.
10x LV10 Agil Scroll Increase AGI at level 10 for 4 minutes: +10 AGI and faster movement.
5x Elemental Converter Endows your weapon with Fire, Water, Earth or Wind. Which element you get is random.
5x Level 10 stat dish +10 to one stat for a full 20 minutes, and a chunk of healing on top. Which stat is random. Steamed Tongue for STR, Dragon Breath Cocktail for INT, Immortal Stew for VIT, Steamed Desert Scorpions for AGI, Hwergelmir's Tonic for DEX, Cooked Nine Tail's Tails for LUK.

All of it is consumable. The pack makes your next dungeon run easier without making your character permanently stronger.

Cache roll#

One win in a thousand pays a Hunter's Cache. Open it and it rolls once on this table:

Chance Contents
30% 3x Yggdrasil Berry, full HP and SP restore
22% 5x Yggdrasil Seed, half HP and SP
18% 3x Elemental Converter, random element
15% 5x Level 10 stat dish, random stat
9% 1x Old Purple Box
5% 2x Token of Siegfried, resurrects you on the spot with your buffs intact
1% 1x Bloody Branch

The last line is the reason this box left the shop. MVP cards sit at 1x here, and a box you could buy in unlimited quantity with farmed coins was the wrong route to a Bloody Branch. It used to cost 200 coins at Lydia. Winning an event is now the only way to get one.

If you want a guaranteed endgame box, the Veteran Hunter's Cache still costs 200 coins. Same table, except the 1% line pays a +7 Weapon or Armor Refine Ticket instead of the branch. Euphy's ticket refiner redeems those.

If your bag is full when you win, the overflow arrives by mail instead, so nothing gets lost.

Treasure Hunt#

This one is not on the schedule. A chest is hidden somewhere in the wilds, or the next one is on its way, and @treasure tells you which of the two it is.

Server chat announces a region the moment a chest spawns (Payon Fields, Geffen Fields, wherever it landed), never the exact map. Type @treasure at any point to check whether one is active and, if not, how long until the next.

The trail warms up#

A region can be a dozen maps, so the hints keep coming while the chest stays unfound:

After What you learn
straight away the region it landed in
15 minutes up to three monsters that live on the chest's map, read from that map's real spawn list
30 minutes three candidate maps, one of which is the right one
45 minutes the exact map

@treasure always repeats every hint unlocked so far. Logging in while a chest is out there greets you with the current state of the search.

The moment you set foot on the correct map, a green banner confirms you are in the right place. The last stretch is a ground search: the chest does not appear on the minimap, and anyone else on that map is reading the same hints you are.

Whoever lands the final hit takes everything. A new chest turns up roughly four hours after the last one is claimed.

Full loot breakdown, including the bonus box chances, is in the table at the top.

The Treasure Hunter at explains the whole thing in person and tells you whether a chest is hidden right now.

Zombie Survival#

The Grave Warden opens his arena three times a day with unusually strict rules: Novices only, and only at Base Level 1. Nobody arrives with better gear or more stats, and nothing you farmed beforehand helps you. Everyone walks in identical.

When: 06:00, 14:00 and 22:00. Registration stays open for five minutes with a countdown, and at least 2 people have to sign up.

Where: the Grave Warden in Prontera at .

At the gate#

Your buffs are cleared and your equipment comes off. Attacking, using items and swapping gear stay locked while you are inside. You cannot fight back at all. Your legs are the only thing you have.

Inside#

Every 15 seconds, two more Zombies rise, and the ones already up stay. What starts as an easy stroll around an empty floor becomes a crowded room with nowhere left to stand, for up to twenty waves.

Fall over and you stay down until the round ends. No respawning back into the fight. When it is over, everyone still lying there is picked up, healed and sent home. The moment only one Novice is left standing, the round ends immediately.

Getting a fresh Novice#

Base Level 1 is easy to lose by accident. Killing a single monster in the training grounds puts you at 2 and out of the running. The Restless Spirit stands in the training camp and takes a brand new character straight to Prontera before that can happen.

Full loot breakdown is in the table at the top. Winning also puts your name on two Hall of Fame boards, one for wins and one for the longest you have ever lasted.

Disguise#

The NPC turns into a random monster and the first player to shout the correct name wins the round. Ten rounds per event. Knowing the bestiary helps more than being fast. Some of the disguises are obscure on purpose.

Full loot breakdown is in the table at the top. A good night is worth up to 30 Poring Coins across the ten rounds.

Poring Invasion#

Three times a day the porings work up the courage to roll into Prontera.

This one asks nothing of you. No sign-up, no minimum number of players, no warp anywhere. It happens in town, and if you are standing there, you are in. The event it replaced needed four people to commit inside a sixty second window, and that almost never came together.

When: every day at 00:00, 08:00 and 16:00. Where: all over Prontera.

How it goes#

Four waves of eighteen porings come bouncing through town, ninety seconds apart: Poring, Drops, Poporing and Marin. None of them fights back, so nobody standing around in town is in any danger.

They land in nine zones spread over the whole city, two per zone, so the north gate and the south quarter get their share along with the fountain. Bring your feet as well as your area spells.

When the last wave is down, the Poring King rolls in. He is a great deal tougher than his subjects, and he carries the best prize.

What it pays#

Full loot breakdown is in the table at the top.

The pouch is pure gambling. Most pay out a few thousand zeny. A rare few are worth over a million, and when that happens the whole server hears about it.

Ask the Poring Herald#

The Poring Herald stands at , on the spot where the Dice Master used to be. He explains the event, the times and the odds, and links to the loot table here in the wiki.

Find the Mushroom#

Up to ten mushrooms sprout somewhere on an announced map. Find them and hit them before anyone else does. They answer to the name "Please don't kill me!". Hit them anyway.

Fast travel wins this event, one more reason to have your Warper destinations unlocked before the announcement goes out.

Full loot breakdown is in the table at the top.

Cluckers#

The chicken takes over town on Saturday and Sunday at 19:00. Poke it correctly and you win. Poke it wrong and the whole square hears about it.

Pays an Old Blue Box plus 10 Poring Coins.

Reverse Race#

A footrace through a city with your controls mirrored. Click forward and you walk backwards. Click left and you go right. The joke holds up better than it sounds.

When: every day at 02:00, 10:00 and 18:00. A server-wide heads-up goes out five minutes before each one, so there is time to finish the fight you are in and make your way to Prontera.

Where: the Race Marshal in Prontera at . Registration opens on the hour and stays open for 90 seconds. The window is short so a race never spends forever waiting on stragglers, and the early warning exists for the same reason.

Who: 2 to 30 runners.

How a race works#

The course is rolled fresh every time. A random city, a random starting point and seven checkpoints scattered across it with a minimum distance between each one. No route is ever short and no two races are the same.

Your client draws the way to the next checkpoint on the ground, the same navigation you get from a /navi command. There is a marker on your minimap as well, in case you have that navigation switched off.

Skills, items, attacks and @ commands are locked while you are running. No Fly Wing, no Teleport, no Warp Portal, no Increase AGI. The lock applies to runners only, so nobody else standing in that city is affected.

Everyone runs at the same speed. The server pins movement speed for the duration instead of stripping your buffs, so a Priest with Increase AGI and a Novice on foot cover ground identically. You keep your buffs, they just do not help you win a race.

Full loot breakdown is in the table at the top. A race takes longer than the shorter events, so it pays more.

If you get stuck#

Walking backwards into a corner is a real possibility. Two things stop it from ruining your race. When the mirrored direction is blocked, the server slides you to the nearest free tile instead of refusing the movement. And two commands work despite the lock: @rrunstuck frees you where you stand, and @rrquit drops you out of the race.

Seasonal events#

Holiday NPCs appear on their real world dates and leave again afterwards. Nothing needs enabling.

Event Runs Extra coins
Christmas, the Xmas Rings hunt 8 December to 8 January 10 for a silver ring, 15 for gold
Halloween 24 to 31 October 5 for a trick, 15 for a treat
Valentine's Day, chocolate crafting 12 to 16 February 3 per chocolate
Uneasy Cemetery all year, nightly at midnight 10 on completion

The Uneasy Cemetery deserves its own note. Every midnight the undead rise at the Prontera cemetery and stay up until players put them back down. Mother Mathana is waiting at .

Always open#

  • War of Emperium, the classic guild siege over a castle
  • PvP Arena, two rooms that never close
  • Hunting Board, daily missions and the closest thing here to a daily quest
  • Voting, twice a day, straight into your pocket

Under consideration#

Event Status
MVP Ladder Planned. Competitive MVP hunting, with MVP cards still at 1x.
Monthly ranking seasons Being discussed.
King of Emperium On the shelf. It needs several guilds competing to be worth running, and right now the server has one.

Most events pay Poring Coins on top of their own prize. Turning up regularly funds a fair amount of shopping at Lydia without any extra farming.
